The firm

Built from the merchant's side of the shelf

Greathouse Retail is a growth brokerage for Walmart and Sam's Club, based in Bentonville. We take brands from good to great — and we can do it because we evaluated categories from the merchant's seat, and we prove it in the data merchants use.

What we are

A growth brokerage, not a manufacturer's rep

Brokerage keeps the accountability. Growth names the outcome we own. We're accountable after the buy — velocity, repeat, and category growth — not a sell-in machine that vanishes after placement.

Being in Bentonville is the part that doesn't scale. What's current — who moved, what a merchant is measured on this year, which way a category is leaning — lives in the hallway and the lunch, and never gets written down. That's what keeps the judgment worth paying for.

How we hold ourselves
  • Your goals at Walmart and Sam's Club set the agenda — not a deal.
  • We start at the customer — the member at Sam's — where you and the merchant already agree.
  • One brand per product segment. Never a competitor's.
  • We tell you the truth before the merchant has to.
People lead. Technology keeps up.

The part that's written down is free now

Anything already documented gets produced instantly and for almost nothing — research, first drafts, reporting, monitoring. We use that hard, which is how a firm this size works at the depth Walmart and Sam's Club now operate at.

What it doesn't know is what changed last month, what your merchant is measured on this year, or which of your problems are genuinely uncertain versus just unknown to you. That half is a person — judgment earned watching decisions go good, bad, and ugly. Nobody sees an output before a person has read it.

You buy growth. Technology is how we produce it, not what we sell.

Our standard · GREAT

Five values. The name is the job — good to great.

  1. G — Ground

    Ground everything in the customer

Every recommendation starts with the customer, or the member at Sam's. It's the one axis where a brand and a merchant never disagree — and it's Walmart's own creed: the customer is the only boss.

  2. R — Recognize

    Recognize category growth drivers

Know real growth from share-steal, and prove it in the data. Without this, "we'll grow your category" is just a thing you say.

  3. E — Execute

    Execute everything with excellence

Item setup, OTIF, replenishment, the deck, the follow-through. Done right, every time. Reliability is the first form of trust and the easiest to lose.

  4. A — Ask

    Ask the hard questions

Tell the brand the truth before the merchant has to — early enough that it's still fixable, and with the fix attached. A brand that wants agreement should hire somebody else.

  5. T — Trust

Trust is our most powerful asset

The other four produce it; it governs every decision. We don't spend it down — which is why we hold product-segment exclusivity, decline a bad-fit client, and tell the truth when it costs the deal.

The A carries more than the others. The first three are things a good firm does. Telling you the truth before the merchant has to is the thing most firms won't — and it's where the business gets made and lost.

What we're built on

Four values, older than the firm

GREAT is how we work. These are why.

Faith

The foundation under everything else. It sets how we treat people — when nothing's at stake, and when everything is.

Family

The work is built around family, not the other way around — ours, and yours.

Trustworthy Work

Do what we said, when we said it, the way we said it. Reliability is the first form of trust — and the easiest to lose.

Health

Healthy people, healthy relationships, healthy business. We don't trade any of the three for a short-term win.

Founder

Built inside the systems brands are trying to reach

Launched Data Ventures, Walmart's supplier-data business — commercial lead behind Luminate, now Scintilla.

Across a career as a Walmart merchant, a data-commercialization leader, and a growth partner in a Bentonville brokerage, our founder has worked hundreds of brands — from the merchant's seat and the supplier's side both. That's what we know from the inside: how Bentonville evaluates a brand, what a merchant needs to say yes, and where a category is heading next.

We bring that read to your business as judgment and experience — a credential, not access. Never anyone's proprietary data, platform IP, or confidential methods carried from one place to another.

Advisory

We also advise the companies building for this ecosystem

Retail service providers, data and insight providers, and the platforms suppliers run their business on. Growth strategy from someone who stood up a retailer's supplier-data business and works the supplier side every day — as a peer, alongside the brokerage.
